Our wonderful OLAS community is rich, vibrant and committed to connect and develop meaningful bonds to each other to heal and grow in the personal and collective realm. They bring their cultural heritage, their stories of identity and their joy of participating. OLAS serves LGBTQ+ immigrants from Latin America seeking a safe and better future in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Our program addresses many of the issues our participants face as asylum seekers fleeing homophobic/transphobic violence and discrimination, including: financial hardships, Trauma/PTSD, family rejection/estrangement, emotional health disorders, addictions, social ostracism (from churches, schools and other community organization), job and housing discrimination, and feelings of isolation.
